經歷八年抗癌 R.E.M、King Crimson鼓手Bill Rieflin辭世 (1960– 2020)

美國西雅圖鼓手Bill Rieflin（全名William Fredrick Rieflin） 歷經抗癌八年，最終於2020年三月辭世，享年59歲，與他結婚27年的妻子、美國當代藝術家Francesca Sundsten同樣因癌症於去年(2019)與世長辭。

Bill Rieflin過去先於1985 加入美國工業金屬樂團Ministry，於第六張錄音室專輯《Filth Pig》之後結束合作關係。Ministry與Nine Inch Nails、The Young Gods、Swamp Terrorists等樂團被視為早期工業金屬樂團的代表。

隨後Bill Rieflin也曾於龐克樂團The Telepaths、Blackouts，及Ministry企劃樂團1000 Homo DJs，Seattle Guitar Circle、Slow Music Project等多個樂團及計畫中演出，著名代表樂團有R.E.M（2003-2011之間加入）、King Crimson等。他也曾加入Nirvana Bass手Krist Novoselic創立的樂團Sweet 75，及擔任Swans的主要鼓手(1993–1996)及客座鼓手(2010–2014)、參與Nine Inch Nails專輯《The Fragile》，更曾發行個人專輯《Birth of a Giant》。

2013年至他辭世前，Bill Rieflin加入前衛搖滾樂團King Crimson，在當中除了擔綱鼓手，也負責鍵盤、合成器、背景和聲等多重樂器協作；過去三十年來，音樂上的貢獻無數。Bill Rieflin的死訊由King Crimson的Robert Fripp率先於社群媒體上證實。

Nirvana Bass手Krist Novoselic、Ministry樂團等也都在社群上發布對於Bill Rieflin辭世的哀悼，同時表明Bill Rieflin對於當時的樂團的發展和成功有著深遠貢獻，是個傑出的音樂人。R.E.M.主要成員Michael Stipe也在Instagram寫下多篇對他的紀念，包括和他在西雅圖的酒吧初次見面，及共同創造的美妙音樂及長年友誼等等。

Of course he was a consummate musician; but I hold close my personal memories of Bill the dapper gentleman whose mischievous sense of humor, usually dark, was ever on target; and of his elegant and calm demeanor in any circumstance; and of his keen intelligence and active mind.
